Mailchimp and WooCommerce integration

How WooCommerce orders, abandoned carts and products get into Mailchimp, what goes wrong with the available plugins, and what to check before choosing. Research notes from October 2026.

The official integration

Mailchimp publishes "Mailchimp for WooCommerce" on WordPress.org. In October 2026 it was at version 6.3, had 200,000+ active installs and a rating of 4.0 out of 5 from 726 ratings, 157 of them one-star. One of 3 support threads was marked resolved in the two months before our check.

It connects a WooCommerce store to a Mailchimp audience and syncs customers, products, orders and carts for abandoned cart and purchase automations, product recommendations and revenue reports.

Common problems

Recent reviews and threads repeat a few themes:

  • Sync that stops or stalls: "doesn't work and support can't fix it" (March 2026), and reports of stuck syncs and an overloaded Action Scheduler queue.
  • Errors in the dashboard: "constant banner error" (March 2026).
  • Logic and support: "Faulty logic, and bad support by MC" (July 2025).

Alternatives

  • MC4WP: Mailchimp for WordPress has 1,000,000+ installs and 4.8 out of 5 from 1,497 ratings. It focuses on sign-up forms and checkout opt-in; sending WooCommerce orders to Mailchimp is part of its paid Premium version.
  • Automation platforms such as Zapier, Make or n8n can add WooCommerce customers to a Mailchimp audience. A typical recipe handles contacts; e-commerce orders, products and abandoned carts need extra steps, and runs are billed per task.
  • Other plugins, such as YITH WooCommerce Mailchimp, focus on subscribing customers to lists from the store.

What to check before choosing

  • Do paid orders from the block checkout and from express payments reach Mailchimp as orders, with the right items?
  • Does a purchase stop the abandoned cart automation, and does a changed cart reach Mailchimp with the new items?
  • What happens when Mailchimp is unreachable for a few minutes: is the order sent later, or lost?
  • Are refunded and cancelled orders marked in Mailchimp, so revenue reports are right?
  • Is there a place in WordPress that shows which changes did not reach Mailchimp, and why?

Ulte Mail Sync

Ulte Mail Sync for Mailchimp is built around those checks. Orders, carts, products and opted-in customers go through a queue that retries until Mailchimp accepts them; a purchase removes the abandoned cart; refunds and cancellations update the order; every change that cannot be delivered is listed with Mailchimp's reason; and the existing Mailchimp store of the site is taken over, so switching keeps history. It is in early access, free up to 50 paid orders a month.
