Zettle and WooCommerce integration

Ways to keep PayPal Zettle and WooCommerce stock in step, what goes wrong with them, and what a reliable two-way sync needs. Research notes from October 2026.

The official integration

PayPal publishes "PayPal Zettle POS for WooCommerce" on WordPress.org. In October 2026 it had 4,000+ active installs and a rating of 3.5 out of 5 from 21 ratings. It supports 13 countries: the US, UK, France, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Italy, Brazil and Mexico.

WooCommerce is the master for products: products are exported to Zettle with price, barcode and variants, and stock is synced in both directions. Categories and purchase price are not synced.

Common problems

Reviews and support threads on WordPress.org repeat a few themes:

  • Store sales not reaching WooCommerce: "Items sold in store are not reduced in inventory on WooCommerce".
  • Lost identifiers: "Barcodes and sku for products are constantly forgotten".
  • Missing fields: "how come purchase price is not synced yet?"
  • Slow support: in the two months before our check, none of the support threads were marked resolved.

Alternatives

BjornTech publishes a separate Zettle integration for WooCommerce (700+ installs, 5 out of 5 from 18 ratings). Automatic sync requires a paid subscription after a one-week trial; one subscription covers one Zettle account and several sites. It syncs products both ways, stock, and Zettle purchases into WooCommerce orders.

What the Zettle API allows

  • Inventory: stock balances can be read and updated per location, singly or in bulk. Tracking must be switched on per product.
  • Products: the product library API covers products and variants.
  • Push notifications: events for inventory balance changes (with the balance before and after), purchases, and product changes.
  • Access: third-party apps connect with OAuth, so no passwords are shared.

That is the same shape as Square's API, which is why the StockEven engine can be reused.

Ulte's plan

Zettle sync brings StockEven's model to Zettle: both sides equal, a decision instead of an overwrite when numbers differ, a queue during outages and an hourly comparison. It is in development; a launch notice can be requested on the product page.
